I was not surprised to see the Saints really struggle this Sunday. First, I am sure there is always a let down after a huge, huge win ala Monday night. Second, most people are not aware of the sheer number of defensive starters (some of whom were playing Monday) that were out this week with injuries – nearly three times the number of Redskins who were on the injury list. Third, I am positive, since our defensive coordinator came from the Redskins program recently, they are well-versed in his strategies, more-so than other recent opponents would have been.
That being said, it was still a sloppy, sloppy effort on the Saints end. It was still a win, and sometimes, you just have to get lucky to keep a streak alive. Just ask the Colts about their game against New England that they maybe thought was lost there close to the end.
Some New Orleans acquaintances of mine were chattering on Twitter after the game. They were discussing heading out to either the airport to greet the arriving charter flight or to Oschner’s for heart scans. One person wondered what sort of plane the team rode on, to which another quipped, “a Magic Carpet.” True Dat.
Hey, remember that one time, when Drew Brees was almost sacked, and he threw an interception, and we STILL got a touchdown out of it? Yeah.
A little luck, a little sweat, a little Faith. True Dat.

They were some very, very lucky stiffs yesterday, dem boys.
I think someone upstairs is pulling some serious strings and cashing in some major favors, myself. And I’m not talking about the booth reviews closer to the field, either.

Yesterday, Fox had the game on as “bonus coverage” because our game (Bears & Rams) was over.
When it was time for the next game (our scheduled Fox game) the switched to it!! Gaaaaahhhh!!! We missed the OT win!! We were not happy.

It’s definitely their turn to ride that magic carpet. And a little help from above . . . definite 1-2 punch right there!!!

I’m picturing conference table debates every night with God, a la W.P. Kinsella:

Stick Ashley, Buddy D., and every other deceased Saints fan around that table and I think that’s what we might be dealing with.

I couldn’t watch. I kept watching the score, panicking a little bit, until it was all over.
BTW: like the Santa hat in the header.

Kelly, thanks for not jinxing us! And, I had to dress up for The Holidays. I’m trying to get a good bright photo of the saints cap I knitted to put on her…
