So far, my sister is the only person I know to have redecorated her entire house for a party. I don’t mean redecorating in the sense of hanging streamers and balloons; I mean it in the context of “holy cow, she rearranged the furniture, put fabric and wall sconces up to mimic the interior of an ancient castle, and walled off a hallway to create a dank, dark dungeon, complete with echoing drip drip sounds and rats.”

Aftermath of a murder in the dungeon

Hidden Council's banquet room
Yes, that is her dining room table. Only it was moved into the big living room. During the party, the TV showed images as if you were looking out a window onto the castle grounds. Very clever, bro-in-law!
The Immortal Murders party is an unscripted murder-theme party. Certain people do know they have to die at the beginning, but they receive an alternate character to change into so they can continue to play. The fellow on the left later became the jester from my earlier post.

The first victims of the evening
After the initial murders happen, there are several goals that help keep the party moving along. Each guest receives a new packet that has more details about what they are to accomplish. For example, I was supposed to gossip about an affair I believed had happened between two characters, and to plant seeds of doubt about the sanity of another. Some of the prizes awarded at the end of the evening were most money (you can blackmail other players), best costumes, best actors, etc. For even more fun, we all received spells that we could use against other characters, as well as possibly finding special murder weapons to off other players. When someone “died,” they were to go off somewhere and lie down with the weapon on them. If you happened to find a “body,” you were free to steal money and other game objects off the corpse.

Oh No! Another murder victim!

Rifling the body for loot

- I really wonder what this convo was about

My Character, Cynthia

Natasha and the Inquisitor

Merlin

Morgana (who was "married" to Merlin)

One of the smaller minions of evil
In case you were wondering if the 14 hour round trip was worth it for one evening… Hell, yeah.

Wowie. I kind of wish I’d been there; I’m having a hard time even picturing it…

Basically, you get together your 30 closest friends, give them all alternate identities, get them drunk and send them out to ad-lib the night away. It really is fun. Especially with the pals who are not terribly shy.

Party hindsight:
I should have nominated the house as the best costume in the male and female categories. Also, I wish I had killed Bastet or Annubis right before the Council meeting instead of Osiris. That would have cause several of us to ad-lib since booting Bastet out and nominating Annubis was key.

This is cool. How long did it take your sister to plan and decorate for this thing?

Ditto Lea. That must have taken ages in the planning!

Morganna,
maybe we should send the house an award certificate, like those “beautification award” signs one sees in front of businesses. Oh, and the RV as bloodmobile for vampires was a nice touch in the driveway, don’t you think?
Lea,
I believe 2 to 3 months in the planning; I would think at least a week for physical decorating.

Looks like a GRAT party!

Wow Saintseester that looked like one excellent party. I can’t believe the level of attention your sister went to with decorating the house. That’s taking it to an amazing level of dedication.
Glad it was all great fun. Speak soon.

LOVE the photos!!! All our attention went to the decorating, and we forgot about the recording…. lol In another year or so, we will have recovered enough to begin thinking about what to do for the next one. : )
